who-what-when

Pyrrhic State Faction came into existence in early May 2002. Founder, and sole member Paul Broome saw and sees the project as a much needed steam-vent for the many angry, confused and dark thoughts which seem to rise in his head more often than is probably healthy.  P'State Faction is an opportunity to rile against the unfair, the misinformed, the bigoted, the user; and to let out a shout for the oppressed, the downtrodden, the lost and the misunderstood...

The over-whelming musical desire with Pyrrhic State Faction is to take the current industrial rock-template, inject it with a little retro-Goth attitude, add a sprinkling of punk, stick it all on a UK-based spin-cycle, then see what we have.

The first release, the 'Litmus EP', was released in June 2002. This was a collection of abrasive industrial-metal songs - and went down pretty well. Things changed quite a lot however, by the time the first full-length album ('Controll') was finally finished (in 2004). This is an album of industrial-techno instrumentals - using retro sounds and digital soft synths to generate a journey through a nightmare soundscape. Both releases are exclusively available for free download (in their entireties) from the Samples page.
